Against Me!, Cherry Glazerr, and Taking Meds at House of Vans
On Friday, August 3, 2018, the final season of House of Vans at 25 Franklin Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn continued with sets from Against Me!, Cherry Glazerr (of Los Angeles), and Taking Meds (of New York).
I last saw Cherry Glazerr just over a year ago at Rough Trade NYC while they were in town for Panorama Festival. A year later, the lineup has changed with the band now being a trio where guitarist/singer Clementine Creevy is playing with bassist Devin O'Brien and drummer Tabor Allen, with former member Sasami Ashworth playing the same stage two weeks earlier with Blondie and Liz Phair.
I haven't caught Against Me! live since their July 2015 performance in McCarren Park during Northside Festival (before that, I saw the punk band in July 2011 for the first time at Mercury Lounge and for the second time at House of Vans one month later). Kicking off their triumphant set with "I Was a Teenage Anarchist" from their 2010 album White Crosses, I was instantly reminded that Against Me! are such an excellent act to see live with nearly everyone of their diverse fanbase singing along. I had such high expectations for this concert and the band exceeded all of them.
