On Friday, August 24, 2018, the House of Vans concert series at 25 Franklin Street in Brooklyn, NY came to an end. It featured bill of New York City bands which was curated by Interpol, who released their sixth album, Marauder, on the same day. Because of the high demand of tickets for the final free concert, a lottery system was in place and the first 15 minutes of Interpol's set was streamed online in honor of the hometown record release show.
All summer long, House of Vans featured a gif photo booth but there was a slight change to the photobooth experience for the final night: attendees could sit in a chair and recreate the Marauder album cover and were given a print of it a few minutes later.
Although the free concert series has come to an end at the Greenpoint location, I hope it returns to New York in some form. In addition to the great live shows I've seen there over the years, I know the closure will impact the skater community too.
